The Bulgarian Currency

The lev is the currency of Bulgaria. It is divided in 100 stotinki. The exchange rate is fixed and is 1 EUR – 1.9558 BGN. The Bulgarian levs are offered in some money exchange offices in Poland. Polish zloty is exchangeable in some Bulgarian banks and money exchange offices. The money can be exchanged in banks, large hotels or money exchange offices. We recommend the ‘Non Commission’ exchange offices. We advise against money exchange in the streets – there is a great danger of being swindled.

How much do you need in your wallet? Bulgaria is said to be the cheapest European country. The expenses depend on individual needs and length of stay of a tourist – 100 EURO per one week is just enough. If it is an all inclusive hotel stay – about 50-80 EURO should do.
